Ford's commitment to education is having a powerful impact on residents in the San Antonio area with Ford's Salute to Education scholarship program. The company and local Ford and Lincoln Mercury dealers in San Antonio have awarded more than $6 million in scholarships and grants in South Texas.

Ford Motor Company Fund also has partnered with the Hispanic College Fund to create the Ford Blue Oval Scholarship, a program that will benefit thousands of students in San Antonio, especially members of the Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of America, and Future Farmers of America (FFA).

The innovative Ford Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS) has reached thousands of students in Texas. Ford PAS is helping high schools provide students with a challenging, real-world education that will give them an advantage in a global economy.



Sharpening the skills of teenage drivers is one way to make driving safer for all of us. Ford's award-winning Driving Skills for Life program, which includes school activities and hands on driving events, has teamed up with the Governors Highway Safety Association to help teens develop safe driving practices.

Corazón de mi vida - "You are the center of my life" - is a national bilingual child passenger safety campaign developed by the San Antonio based National Latino Children's Institute and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Ford dealerships in Texas and around the nation offer free Car Care Clinics to educate young women on basic car maintenance and safety. Change a tire or jump start a battery, it's all part of Ford's national partnership with SafeSmart Women (S2W) and local partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas.



Ford is proud to be a founding sponsor of the Alameda National Center for Latino Arts and Culture in San Antonio. Ford's contribution includes $5.5 million toward completion if the Museo Alameda - the nation's largest Latino museum - and restoration of the Alameda Theater. Museo Alameda is a cultural beacon for San Antonio tells the story of the Latino experience in America through art, history and culture.

Ford has long-standing ties to the San Antonio River Walk and the many events that make this such a special place for residents and visitors alike. The Ford Mariachi Festival gives local students an opportunity to showcase their musical skills along the River Walk during Fiesta Week, which also includes the Ford Children's Festival. The annual Ford Canoe Challenge helps support the Paseo del Rio Association and the Ford Holiday River Parade & Lighting Ceremony kicks off the Paseo Del Rio Holiday Festival. The Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias lights the way along the River Walk following a centuries-old tradition.



Ford has didcated more than $95 million to fight breast cancer in Texas and across the country during its 14-year relationship with Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign also is raising awareness about breast cancer and helping to save lives. The company recently honored Celia Thompson from San Antonio, a breast cancer survivor, for her role in stressing early detection in the Hispanic community.

Ford employees and dealers lace up their walking shoes each year and join San Antonio's Global Walk Team for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes. Ford Motor Company raises more money for JDRF nationally than any other corporate sponsor.
