Ford's commitment to education
in Southeast Michigan is having a
powerful impact on residents through-
out the area. Ford
Partnership for Advanced Studies (Ford PAS) is helping
Detroit-area high schools provide
students with a challenging, real-world education that will give them
an advantage in the workplace of tomorrow. This innovative program -
which is used by 20,000 students in 26 states nationwide, connects
high schools with colleges and businesses to promote future success
for students.
Henry Ford Academy
is the nation's first charter school developed jointly by a major
corporation, public education and a nonprofit cultural institution.
Ford started the academy as a model for educational reform,
preparing students for the 21st century with a rigorous curriculum
of hands-on activities, teamwork and interaction with professionals.
Located in Dearborn, the true power of the school lies in the direct
involvement of more than 400 Ford employees who serve as tutors, mentors,
lecturers, advisors, project partners and coaches for thousands of hours each year.
Sharpening the skills of teenage drivers will make Michigan roads and
highways safer for all of us. That's why Ford's awardwinning Driving
Skills for Life program has been training local students to recognize
potential dangers behind the wheel, while also giving them valuable
tips on vehicle handling, speed control and space management. More than
1,000 students in Metro Detroit have taken this hands-on safety course,
and many more have benefited from the program's driver training and
online educational opportunities. Driving Skills for Life
is now offered across the country in partnership with the Governors Highway Safety Association.

Ford Motor Company is a proud partner with the United Way
in helping to improve the lives of individuals in Southeast Michigan and the communities where they live. In
2007, Ford led all auto companies with more than $9 million in contributions through its
corporate donations and the generous giving of Ford employees.
Ford has dedicated more than $95 million to fight breast cancer in Michigan
and across the country during its 14-year relationship with Susan G. Komen
Race for the Cure. More than 50,000 Ford employees and dealers from coast
to coast have participated in the many Komen Race for the Cure events.
The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign also is raising awareness about
breast cancer and helping to save lives.
Ford Motor Company raises more money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
nationally than any other corporate sponsor. In Southeast Michigan, Ford employees and dealers lace up their walking shoes each year and
join the Ford Global Walk Team to participate in the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes. They also hold auctions, raffles and bake sales. The
efforts have generated millions of dollars in contributions for research toward a cure.

Since 2005, the Ford Volunteer Corps sends thousands of
employees into communities throughout Southeast Michigan to help people in need. MODEL
Teams of Ford volunteers paint shelters, renovate schools, stock food banks, collect clothing and provide necessary services
to nonprofit organizations.

with The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press. The program helps supply teachers with newspapers to enhance
the classroom learning experience and improve reading skills for students. Ford also helps sponsor the
Detroit Free Press High School Journalism Program, including an annual
$24,000 college scholarship to a promising young journalist.
Ford is proud of its history of bringing people together to celebrate our rich cultures.
The annual Ford Freedom Awards program celebrates
the achievements of individuals who brought lasting and positive change for African-Americans and the world.
This inspiring program is underwritten by Ford and helps fund education, exhibits and community outreach initiatives.

Ford is committed to protecting the environment and providing sustainable solutions for manufacturing and transportation for
future generations. One example is Ford's historic Rouge Complex in Dearborn. It is a model for environmental design, from
its storm water management and wildlife habitats to its living roof. Ford is the biggest supporter of
Friends of the Rouge with financial contributions and the volunteer
efforts of Ford employees to improve the river and its entire ecosystem.
